The right candidate embodies the Caribou spirit including:

  • Prior Maintenance Management and/or supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Strong ability to lead, coach and build a successful team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Superior attention to details, time management, high quality environment.
  • A Pool Operators Certificate and a background in electrical and /or plumbing is an asset.
  • Prior experience and knowledge working with HVAC systems.
  • Task orientated and results driven.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish goals, measurements and results for the department along with the General Manager.
  • Involvement in the preparation of the Maintenance Operating and Capital budgets.
  • Monitor and revise as needed, departmental health & safety tools including WCB and WHMIS training programs, policies and practices.
  • Ensure a safe work environment is maintained at all times and that all colleagues are committed to working safely.
  • Effective and timely interaction with all Hotel departments to positively impact guest experience by effectively and efficiently resolving maintenance concerns.
  • Motivate, train and lead maintenance personnel by personal example with a philosophy of work conduct, enthusiasm and personal development that leads to maximum performance and job satisfaction.
  • Organize, implement and track all maintenance projects for guestrooms and public areas.
  • Assist will all aspects of scheduling and payroll throughout the Maintenance Department.
  • General operational and preventative maintenance of systems including: Boilers and heating systems; Make up air and HVAC systems; Pool facilities; and General plumbing issues.
  • Maintain hotel guest rooms and public areas by performing routine maintenance jobs and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plumbing systems, electrical systems and appliances.
  • Maintain the safety and upkeep of guest areas in the indoor and outdoor spaces of the property including the removal of snow and ice and other hazards.
  • Maintain the integrity pools by ensuring a safe chemical balance through frequent testing.
  • Additional duties may be assigned to help meet guest needs.
