Based at our Vancouver location near Venables Street and Clark Drive, the Dispatcher primarily responsible for supporting the Fleet Dispatch Foreman in ensuring that the Fleet & Transportation department is running smoothly and efficiently. Working directly with Drivers, Key Bulk Accounts, Redux Services Team Members and the Vancouver Truck Shop, this role actively troubleshoots issues that arise from the day-to-day operations of the department. This key role in our Fleet Department requires flexibility in hours of work to ensure the team functions and customer needs are met.

Hourly rate: $39-40/hour

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assist Fleet Dispatch Foreman in the scheduling and allocation of Drivers to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Primary relief of Fleet Dispatch Foreman duties during holidays and emergency after-hours calls.
  • Coordinate fleet equipment and parts pick-up with Vancouver Truck Shop and external 3rd party repair facilities.
  • Support routing of bulk trucks and execute bulk truck customer service orders to ensure 3rd party carriers are being fulfilled.
  • Coordinate used cooking oil bin swapping at customer sites with the Redux Sales Team.
  • Record and submit to appropriate parties all relevant fleet & transportation information including equipment mileage, trip inspections, driving logs, route summaries for used cooking oil and bone & fat runs, customer kill sheets, delivery slip commodity load confirmations, etc.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise regarding fleet mobile phones with IT Department and Drivers.
  • Periodically manage inventory of equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Investigate scale matching issues to ensure orders can move to invoicing.
  • Set up of new accounts in JD Edwards.
  • Act on feedback received in an appropriate and timely manner to ensure employee and vehicle safety, as well as customer satisfaction.
  • Back-up driving responsibilities during Driving team absences or workforce shortage.
  • Operate all WCRL equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support after-hours calls outside of normal working hours.
  • Identify opportunities for operational and fleet utilization improvements.
  • Actively participate in Department meetings.
  • Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. Policies.
  • Work closely with Health & Safety to encourage a safety culture where employees do not put themselves or others at risk.
  • Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • 5 to 10 years’ experience within commercial transportation, driving or logistics setting required.
  • Experience as a leader or working with teams to maximize performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Possession of a valid BC Class 3 driver’s licence or Class 1 driver’s licence is required.
  • Strong aptitude in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, JD Edwards, Dayforce and similar systems required.
  • Commercial vehicle truck maintenance knowledge is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, with strong communication skills.
