Based at our Vancouver location near Venables Street and Clark Drive, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for the planning and scheduling of repairs and maintenance activities within the maintenance department to ensure a productive workforce with minimal downtime, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System, and recording information from repairs and installations are other important tasks of the role.

Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assist the Maintenance Superintendent in scheduling of maintenance teams.
  • Examine equipment in the case of failures or inefficiencies, and report to findings to the Maintenance Superintendent in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and administer work orders through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) program to ensure the efficient planning, scheduling, and reduced costs of repairs.
  • Maintain daily records of employees, for time keeping and work order control.
  • Work with maintenance staff to ensure valuable information from repairs and installation is recorded in the Equipment Master File.
  • Assist in monthly toolbox meetings to ensure open communication between employees and management.
  • Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands.
  • Ensure that all maintenance work adheres to safety guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to align maintenance activities with overall organizational goals.
  • Work overtime as scheduled to ensure minimal downtime of facilities.
  • Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. policies.
  • Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Minimum  2-3 years of experience in a supervisory maintenance  environment
  • Strong knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems is an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work procedures.
  • Experience with computer and program skills for planning, time keeping, and scheduling software (JD Edwards, Dayforce).
  • Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily.
  • Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, heights, cold weather, odours and animal by-products.
  • Administrative focus to office environment with tours and checks to all sections of the Plant.
