OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY:
As a member of the Data Governance Office, the successfully candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues across SOCAN in order to proactively advance the Data Analytics capabilities of the organization, including partners, members and external clients. Working closely with the Director and team members, the Data Engineer will design and implement business intelligence and data management solutions that incorporate various data sources in order to optimize operational processes and support strategic decision making for the organization.
The ideal incumbent will have familiarity of various business intelligence processes and systems as well as outstanding interpersonal skills. Previous experience in Microsoft BI technology such as SQL Server, SSIS, Power BI and Azure is required. Knowledge and understanding of data warehouse standards, best practices and schemas is preferred. Previous working experience with data governance application is an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the Implementation and maintenance of the Data Governance application.

Actively collaborate with the team members and business stakeholders to design and develop data models / visual dashboards in Power BI.

Identify mechanisms to improve the quality and integrity of data across SOCAN.

Build credibility and maintain successful relationships with various stakeholders to improve access to data and build trust across the organization

Manage and document data management and data governance policies and procedures attached to the Data Governance Steering Committee (DGSC) and the Data Governance Working Group (DGWG).

Support the adherence to Data Privacy policies applied across SOCAN.

Ensure that personal skills are continually advanced to constantly improve the data visualization skills.

Develops and maintain other BI and analytics standards for SOCAN including data sources and a data dictionary.

Troubleshoot and analyze data issues with existing BI reports.

Communicate results to business staff and supports business decisions.

Validate report results against requirements for consistency and accuracy
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
-
Proficient with Data Warehouse technologies and BI concepts such as dimensional modeling, OLAP, data model/architecture, data integration/ETL and visualization.

Understanding of Data Governance standards and experience with Data Governance Applications (e.g. Informatica, Collibra, Talend).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

A University Degree or Diploma in Computing Science, Statistics, Mathematics or similar disciplines

4 years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
