Compensation Analyst

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources and Facilities, you are responsible for providing support and analysis on compensation initiatives and functions including the administration of compensation programs; Salary, Commission, Short Term Incentive (STIP), Long Term Incentive (LTIP) and other compensation related programs. In addition, you will manage a project to consolidate and automate the management of our compensation plans.


  • Research, analyse and create reports to support compensation recommendations and initiatives.

  • Provides salary data and prepares costing scenarios in support compensation administration.

  • Prepare detailed compensation analytics and models as needed to support both cyclical and ad hoc compensation analytics;

  • Provide required analysis for annual salary review process, incentive and other annual compensation programs

  • Administers and contributes to the delivery of salary administration and Short and Long Term incentive plans

  • Manage the reporting and administration of the components of the Long Term Incentive plan

  • Participate in regular salary survey and benchmarking market review process

  • Support the development of material for the Board of Directors by creating analysis, and presentation materials as required

  • Work in collaboration with the Head of Human Resources, Finance and the Corporate secretary to complete the Compensation Discussion and Analysis section of the annual Management Information Circular

  • Work with HR and functional leadership team on annual salary increase guidelines and participate in the process from planning to execution, including communication.

  • Prepare and execute the annual salary and incentive process, including the calculation of the incentive plan bonuses, preparation of letters and bonus documents.

  • Maintain and oversee compensation information within the HRIS (Dayforce) and W-Desk finance system.

  • Supporting the monthly and quarterly incentive forecasting process, working with internal HR stakeholders



  • Analytical/conceptual thinking: Strong skills in numeracy, mathematics and analytics, with the ability to analyze large amounts of data, identify trends and provide succinct explanations behind the data.

  • Accountability & Ownership: Someone with a focus on accuracy, who sees a job through to the end and owns the results.

  • Process Efficiency: A focus on building models / processes to help complete deliverables in a quick and efficient manner.

  • Love the data: you will bring your passion for data, Excel and all things analytical to this role. From analyzing internal and external benchmarking data, to comparing market survey metrics and salary grades, you will enjoy the challenge of diving into the numbers.
    Planful and Organized:  Proactively anticipating workload to ensure optimum productivity, accuracy and efficiency.


  • Post Secondary degree in Business, Mathematics and or Human Resources discipline or related field of study.

  • Working  towards CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) designation would be considered an asset.
    Minimum three (3) years of related compensation experience.

  • Demonstrated mathematical and numeric ability to compute data accurately; ability to analyze trends and salary data.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of compensation and incentive programs, including long term incentive plans.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is required; proficient with PowerPoint and Word.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and skilled in manipulating data.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality work and manage multiple deliverables under time constraints and competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in handling information of a sensitive nature.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to summarize information concisely and present in written, graphical and/or verbal format in order to convey complex information to all levels of stakeholders.

  • Ability to take full ownership of assigned projects and see those projects through to completion.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Previous experience working with and reporting from HR information systems (Ceridian Dayforce, preferred but not required)
