Program Supervisor- Full Time

Mississauga, Ontario- Streetsville Program

Salary: $54,300-$64,400

 

Position Description: Working as part of the interdisciplinary team, as the Program Supervisor you will be responsible for providing residents in Indwell’s supportive living program with enhanced supports that help them maintain their health and housing. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will provide direct supervision and support to program employees and volunteers via on-site presence and routine check-ins. Being responsible for program oversight, working in collaboration with Indwell’s leadership to uphold the organization’s mission, vision and values. This position will require a high level of resilience and a willingness to work in close proximity to challenging situations.  The program is slated to open in August 2024 with the Program Supervisor  working out of the Lakeshore Lofts Program until Streetsville is ready for staff access.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Flexibility is required to meet program needs, which can include evening and weekend hours with some public holidays. As the program operates 7 days a week, being on-call for 1 week every 4-6 weeks is required to support the tenants and the team. The on-call rotation consists of carrying a work cell phone 24/7 for that one week, responding to urgent needs.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

 

  • Supervising and supporting an interdisciplinary team of employees as assigned, providing leadership and direction. Conducting and documenting regular check-ins with staff and completing employee performance evaluations
  • Monitoring and leading healthy team dynamics, and the development and maintenance of positive, professional team culture. Responsive to the care, culture and competence needs of staff
  • Participating and leading the staff recruitment process as needed, in collaboration with Program Manager and the Human Resources Team
  • Overseeing a thorough onboarding and orientation process for new employees, students, and volunteers
  • Collaborating and communicating with the Program Manager to identify and problem solve around gaps in systems and processes
  • Coordinating and performing on-call responsibilities as required
  • Ensuring consistent and clear direction to program staff around maintaining and protecting resident health records
  • Creating and providing a program schedule for employees
  • Implementing ongoing evaluation of the program to ensure effective service to residents
  • Supporting roll-out of new assessment tools to program staff and residents
  • Participating and contributing to relevant Cross Regional Teams
  • Leading, attending and actively involved in team meetings and other agency meetings as required
  • Keeping apprised of new research and developments relevant to your role, through workshops, journals, websites and literature, transferring knowledge back to the team and residents in the most effective manner available
  • Overseeing the intake process for new residents and supporting the team with coordinating move-ins and resident welcome
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with community and health partners to support the team and residents in connecting to community resources and supports
  • Leading, coordinating and/or participating in case conferences with outside supports
  • Coming alongside the staff and residents in care planning to achieve their goals balancing support with resident empowerment and independence
  • Applying evidence-based practice, influencing policy and program development, identifying relevant and appropriate trauma informed care that promotes hope and trust
  • Reviewing Landlord Tenant Board process, as needed, in collaboration with the Program Manager, and representing Indwell at possible hearings
  • Supporting the team / staff responses to resident complaints/concerns
  • Fostering positive team relations with Indwell facilities staff regarding program maintenance and unit turnovers
  • Administrative responsibilities such as rent collection, intake and discharge planning

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

 

  • Diploma or degree in social work, social service work, nursing or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a social service setting
  • Experience working in mental health and/or addictions is beneficial with harm reduction approaches to substance use
  • A client centered approach, using trauma-informed strategies to support residents
  • A warm, sensitive and caring approach with a genuine interest in supporting a diverse population of people living with mental illness
  • Strong communication, listening, interview and assessment skills, as well as critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective crisis intervention and conflict management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a high stress environment, work independently, be flexible, organized, responsible and take initiative
  • Excellent written, verbal, time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ongoing learning and experience around supporting diverse individuals and communities (i.e. cultural safety, anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice, etc.)
  • A commitment to interpersonal collaborative teamwork and care and continuous professional development
