The Shipping/Receiving Supervisor is responsible for leading, developing, and engaging employees within the Shipping/Receiving Department to accomplish assigned objectives applicable to the shipping and receiving functions. This person is also responsible for results directly tied to logistical operations including, but not limited to, efficiency, timeliness, safety, process improvement, and quality. This is a contract role with a 12 - 18 month duration period.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.
Coordinate and issue all daily shipping/receiving activities within the department based on production and customer demand.
Understand and execute shipping team functions according to defined safety, quality, cost, and delivery metrics set by the US Logistics Manager.
Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all outbound shipments completed by the shipping team at the corporate warehouse.
Schedule daily outbound LTL, intermodal, and small package shipments with Cadet’s core carriers.
Verify the quantities, weights, and dimensions on prepared shipping docs against customer order shipments.
Provide accurate freight quotes to Vancouver’s Customer Service Reps within 24 hours from time of request.
Complete scheduled carrier performance evaluations and review shipping rates with the US Logistics Manager to satisfy corporate expectations.
Initiate and follow through on all tasks associated with the freight claim process.
Coordinate outbound shipments from Vancouver’s satellite and 3PL warehouses with the Customer Service Reps.
Troubleshoot shipping and receiving related issues tied to the Cadet brand at the Vancouver and Indianapolis facilities as they occur using available resources and protocols set by management.
Initiate Root Cause Analysis for all shipping/receiving issues as mandated by the Lean Office.
Resolve finished goods inventory issues affecting order fulfillment with the Production Coordinator
Maintain receiving, warehouse and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and promoting operational and personnel policies and procedures.
Safeguard warehouse operations and content by controlling and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations regarding logistics and hazardous materials, and ensure carriers are in compliance.
Implement staff development opportunities through the use of education, communication, and clear expectations.
Improve team performance through use of Lean methodology and industry best practices.
Communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the organization, as well as with vendors, and other business partners.
·Manage 6-10 shipping/receiving personnel under the care of the US Logistics Manager in meeting and exceeding metric goals set by said manager or members of the management team.
·Set and sustain a level of leadership performance that is acceptable by the US Logistics Manager and members of the Ops management team.
·Draft monthly Shipping Team schedules that align with customer and production demand.
·Update and report daily Shipping/Receiving metrics when required.
Conduct daily stand-up meetings with the shipping and receiving departments.
·Serve as a manager representative for meetings in the absence of the US Logistic Manager.
·Be available to respond to operational emergencies during Vancouver’s business hours on or off site. Responses can be in the form of email, phone, or in person.
·Escalate operational needs through proper management channels and adhere to protocols set by Cadet’s management team.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma plus a minimum of 3 years shipping/receiving experience and 2 years in a shipping lead/supervisor role.

This position requires working in a fast-paced and often stressful environment. Some hands-on work will be expected. You will balance time between using computers in a private office space and walking through the warehouse, plant and exterior loading docks to supervise projects.
You must work regular operating hours and be willing to work extra hours as needed on tight project deadlines. Occasional travel is expected to offsite warehouse partners.
This position may occasionally entail visiting manufacturing areas, which may require using personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hard hat, and mandatory hearing protection.
