Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineering Specialist is responsible for Advanced Product Quality approvals and in identifying actual and potential root causes of product quality issues and solving them. This entails minimizing Quality costs through effective preventive and corrective actions. The successful candidate will be highly organized, technically competent, and capable of working with and influencing customers, colleagues, and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a background that includes experience with world class quality assurance systems as well as effective project experience working across groups within and outside an organization. Experience with root cause analysis and preventive action implementation is needed. The successful applicant will have demonstrated effective management and improvement of quality.
-Overall responsibility to track and coordinate Product Approvals for Production, including the samples and documentation required to complete approvals according to defined project timelines
-Weekly notification of GDHK of SER projects requiring their assistance
-Regular communication and tracking with Glen Dimplex Product Engineers, suppliers, outside Quality resources to ensure submissions are on time and complete
-Coordination of engineering approvals and specification corrections/clarifications
-Where applicable, Pre-Shipment Inspection Release/Rejection for all new Finished Good Products
-Escalation of issues to Quality Director that pose risk to product quality or project timing
-Training and direction of personnel in required analysis and reporting requirements of returned product
-Review, disposition and escalation of issues identified in returned product
-Resolution of product engineering quality problems within and outside Glen Dimplex Americas, including initiation and tracking of Internal and external analysis of cause determination and effective monitoring of solution implementation
-Driving effective Corrective and Preventive Actions within product design, use, and manufacturing
-Investigation and resolution of Customer Quality concerns
-Analysis of Failure Trends and Proactive minimization of Quality Costs.
-Development/Maintenance of documented process within the Quality Department and broader organization
-A degree or diploma in electrical, electronic, and mechanical engineering
CQE designation, or similar experience
-Experience driving root cause analysis and preventive action implementation
-Strong analysis capabilities and capability to effectively summarize data
-Use of various software, including Microsoft Excel, SAP Business Objects
-A self starter who is capable of working independently and facilitating actions from many internal and external agents
-This position may involve some travel
