BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.

BioVectra Inc. has an opening for a Biochemist. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Windsor, Nova Scotia.

 

    The candidate will be responsible for: 

  • Performing analyses using instrumental techniques such as ELISA, qPCR, HPLC, CE-SDS, cIEF, PAGE
  • Participating in phase-appropriate validation exercises from generation of protocols through to summary reports.
  • Act as project SME and interface with internal and external customers at project meetings
  • Write SOPs and laboratory protocols for others to follow and execute.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all laboratory activities.
  • Identifying test results which are out of specification and opening formal failure investigations when this occurs.
  • Participating in quality investigations as SME
  • Adhere to BioVectra's Health and Safety Policy.

 

    The successful candidate for this position should have:

  • BSc in Biochemistry or related field. 
  • Minimum one year of relevant laboratory experience in a regulated environment.
  • Technical proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and techniques such as qPCR, ELISA, electrophoresis.
  • Knowledge of cGMP guidelines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient technical writing ability 
  • MSc or PhD in biochemistry preferred.
